The 1 st World of Winds (WoW)
- A worldwide wind orchestra for pre-professionals


The very first session is to be held in Trondheim, Norway in 2006.


Program:
25 July - 2 August: Rehearsal period
2 - 6 August, concerts in Norway and Germany



World of Winds is an international project aiming at bringing young high-level musicians together to develop their musical skills, establish international relations and perform wind music for a wide audience.

In the frame of WOW, young musicians will meet every secound year and develop their musical skills across borders, race and religion.


Our philosophy is the enhancement of appreciation, understanding and preservation of the rich musical heritage of the world. This includes acknowledgement and sustainability of creativity, which is one of the major ideas the young talented musicians will promote.



Conductor

Christian LindbergChristian Lindberg
´s career as a conductor has rapidly taken off. Less then 4 years after his experiment and first ever experience as a conductor with the Northern Sinfonia he is now chief conductor of two orchestras (Nordic Chamber Orchestra and the Swedish Wind Ensemble) and appears as guest conductor with Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Jenaer Philharmonie, Reinische Philharmonie, Residentie Orchestra in the Hague, Norrlandsoperans orkester, The Swedish Chamber Orchestra, and the Haydn Orchestra and Iceland Symphony Orchestra.

Soloist and conductor

Ole Edvard AntonsenOle Edvard Antonsen is regarded one of the most outstanding trumpet-soloists worldwide . He has performed and recorded with leading conductors Mariss Jansons, Kent Nagano, Wolfgang Sawallish,  Jeffrey Tate, Philippe Herreweghe and orchestras like Berlin Phil., Atlanta Symph., BBC Symph., St.Martins in the Fields, Australian Ch.Orch . His conducting career started in 2005. He is chief-conductor of the Royal Norwegian Airforce Band and appears as guest conductor with Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, The Trondheim Soloists, The Royal Norwegian Navy Band, The Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces, and The Defence Orchestra of Bergen.

 




Session in 2006, Trondheim, Norway

In 2006 the Norwegian Band Federation will serve as host for the very first session ever. We are pleased to have acquired the services of the renowned Christian Lindberg to fill the position of Chief Conductor and the outstanding trumpet player Ole Edvard Antonsen as soloist and guest conductor. A spectacular programme has been developed, including rehearsals in Trondheim from July 25th as well as two concerts in Norway, before the session ends with a concert held as part of the Rheingau Musik Festivals in Germany August 6th.

CONCERTS
World of Winds has ended the first session and tour and approximately 1800 people gave musicians, conductors and soloist a standing ovation in Trondheim, Hamar Kulturhus and Wiesbaden Kurhaus, Friedrich-von-Thiersch- Saal. Next World of Winds is planed in 2008.
